Micro-Tyco is a month-long challenge that enables participants to practice and learn fundamental business principles in a safe, 'micro' environment. Teams from schools, universities or businesses have one month to turn £1 seed capital into as much money as possible. Micro-Tyco unleashes participants' latent talents, fostering essential entrepreneurial thinking, resourcefulness and team work. Participants receive world class business video training from the Micro-Tyco Mentors (including Lord Digby Jones and Sir Tom Hunter) and interact with other teams via the exclusive Micro-Tyco social network. Participants can now be recognised for their entrepreneurial excellence through our exclusive ‘Micro-Tyco Excellence Award’ in partnership with Babson Social Innovation Lab, the world’s top school for entrepreneurship. Micro-Tycos also have the opportunity to expand their networks further at Future Talent Forums, Micro-Tyco Master Classes and the WildHearts GEL Summits.
All money created by the Micro-Tycos is invested by WildHearts in micro-loans for poor entrepreneurs in the developing world. Participants 'become entrepreneurs to fund entrepreneurs'. By associating business excellence with economic justice, Micro-Tyco inspires the Leaders Our World Deserves.
High Schools will also have the chance to apply for official Micro-Tyco School status, accessing additional entrepreneurial resources and Teacher CPD. By taking part in Micro-Tyco senior pupils gain an experience that completely differentiates their personal statement and CV and have the chance to secure work experience with leading employers such as Deloitte.
Micro-Tyco is now Scottish Qualification Authority accredited, helping pupils to officially demonstrate their entrepreneurial and workplace skills to future employers. S3-S5 secondary pupils can now attain 50% of the units required for the National Progression Award in Enterprise and Employability (Level 4).These units are Self Awareness (Group D – F2FV10/H18X44) and Enterprise Activity (Group A – D36N10).
Micro-Tyco takes place every February and November. Register your school to take part here.
